#MeAndMine - A Family Portrait (July)

I missed out on last months Me and Mine as we moved house and were without Internet for a while *weeps a little at the memory*. As it was, we didn't have time to take a family photo anyway as life was hectic - I would have had to use another Florida one taken at the beginning of June.

So, catching up on 2 months worth really. What have we been up to?

The holiday to Orlando was incredible. I finally got my first blog post about children's ages for Disney live the other day. 3 weeks after returning from holiday we moved house. We've been in a month now and...

...we love it here.

I'll be blogging about it at some point but the house is gorgeous. We love having so much room, the neighbourhood is lovely and we've made friends already - so has MC! We are perfectly happy here.

The kids seem to have settled into the new house brilliantly. They are growing up so fast. MC has finished nursery class and will be starting full time school in September. TC is starting to develop his speech more and is fast becoming a keen footballer already.

So, as I said, life has been full on. We don't get a huge amount of time together as a family of 4 anyway as every other weekend we have to see the inlaws (they live in Nottingham) so that always has to be considered when planning anything. This weekend just gone though, with the house pretty much sorted, we decided to have some much overdue family time.

With the weather warm and sunny we packed up a picnic and headed to Greenfield Valley Heritage Park.

I took so many photos of the kids enjoying the grass, the flowers, the abbey ruins and playing football. It was just so lovely to watch them having fun.

It was perfect.

So I decided to set up the timer on the camera to make sure I got a photo of all 4 of us.

It took it.

Then I checked the photo.

I immediately dissolved into a fit of the giggles.

In my rush to set up the photo with us all on the picnic mat I'd forgotten to move the cool bag from in front of TC*.

What appeared on the camera screen was hilarious. Matt and I couldn't stop laughing.

It so looks like TC is actually in the cool bag (he wasn't I must add, he was sat behind it)!

That was it... I'd got my Me and Mine photo instantly. I didn't bother taking another one.

There was no need.

To me, this is perfect and hilarious in equal measures.

*If I'd been even more picky I would've moved the pushchair too :)

A Mini Cheddar A Day Keeps The Bad Feelings Away

I talked not so long ago about how I feel time slipping away from me and how I've had some times where I've felt everything getting on top of me*

Even on the most rubbish of days, Mini Cheddar has this unique ability to make me smile and laugh (apart from when she's possessed that is).

I haven't done one of these posts for probably over 6 months. I feel bad about that as I know I will have missed out lots of gems that have come from Mini Cheddar's mouth but here are the ones I can recall...

MC: "Mummy, where did you go?"
Me: "I went next door to see Sandra"
MC: "SANTA? But Santa doesn't live next door. He lives in the North Pole!"

MC: Daddy?
Daddy: Yes darling?
MC: When you go to work will you see Darth?
Daddy: Who? What?
MC: Darth! Darth Vader?
Daddy: No, why would I see Darth Vader?
MC: But Mummy said you were going to Darth to work
Daddy: DARTFORD sweetie, I'm going to D-A-R-T-F-O-R-D

(whilst waiting in line to meet Winnie The Pooh on holiday at EPCOT in Florida)
Cast Member: I'm sorry but Pooh is just going to take a 2 minute break but you're next to meet him.
MC: Has he gone for a poo?

(whilst bathing TC she points at his willy)
MC: Mummy! His willy looks like an elephants trunk!

(whilst in a public toilet with my Mum)
MC: My baby brother has a willy
Grandma: Really?
MC: Yes, he has a small willy and Daddy has a BIG willy!

(whilst on the sofa with my husband)
MC: Daddy, I'm going to have to get up...my back is killing me.

(in a cafe)
Waitress: Can I take your order?
MC: Yes please, I'll have a cheese sandwich and a glass of milk
Waitress: Large or small milk?
MC: Small please
(waitress turns to me)
MC: My mummy has milk in her boobies!

(whilst looking at a photo of a man in a kilt, MC points at his sporran)
MC: Look mummy! He's got a pet hamster!

MC: Mummy? I want to get married
Me: I think you're a little bit young sweetie
MC: No I'm not! I'm 3!
Me: Well who would you like to marry?
MC: Daddy

*That was all brought into perspective last week by the news that a lovely blogger friend Kerry is seriously ill in a coma. There hasn't been a day since I found out that I've not spent a lot of time thinking about her and hoping she pulls through. I was lucky enough to become very friendly with her in our blogging early days and then had the pleasure of spending some time with her at Cybermummy last year. She's such a wonderful person. I'm not a religious person but even I've said a prayer or two for her recovery.

Bank Holiday Bedlam

You know one of those days when everything is fairly calm and serene? No surprises? A little bit dull really, if you're honest.

Then something happens to turn your day around?

That was us a few days ago. Honestly, it was like a scene from a Carry On film.

On Monday we were enjoying the long Bank Holiday weekend. We'd been out and about a bit and after a day of rain on the Sunday the weather was warm and sunny. Life was good.

I'd already planned to cook a roast chicken for dinner. Matt was in charge of the kids in the front room after I'd fed Tiny Ched and left him to be winded by his daddy.

I had returned to the kitchen to turn the roast potatoes over. Above the noise of the oven being open and the spitting of fat I became vaguely aware of shrieks and hollers from the lounge. As I returned I was met by Matt and TC in the hall both covered in breast milk.

"He's been sick" Matt said looking slightly suspicious like I'd given TC a good shake before I'd passed him over to be winded.

No shit Sherlock!

Just then TC unleashed a second wave of chunder which drenched Matt and his slippers and made a spectacular splash on the laminate floor in the hall.

Just then Mini Cheddar appeared, who, I have to say, has THE worst gag reflex EVER!

She laid eyes on the vomit and immediately puked on the lounge carpet just inches from the 'wipe clean' laminate of the hall.

Yup, it was like Carry On Puking!

Then, freaked out and ashamed at the fact she'd also chundered, MC decides to make a run through to the kitchen to escape the carnage.

She slips on said puke.

She falls and smacks her head on the laminate.

Cue screams and tears.

Incidentally MC and TC both cried too.

Hair Today - Almost Gone Tomorrow...When Belle Nearly Lost It!

My blog has been a place of misreableness (yes, I checked, that is a word) lately. So I thought that before Helen downs another bottle of gin reading my posts I'd better lighten the air a little.

After all, my blog has been the home of some great hilarity over the past year and two months what with posts about korma specials in the pub, revenge on my husband, dodgy perms and poodle-tastic posts.  So, here I want to share with you something funny that happened on our January holiday to Orlando.

We had booked to take Mini Cheddar to dine for lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table inside the iconic castle itself. It wasn't a cheap affair by any means but it was totally worth it. Just to be in the castle - plus, we had a great seat right by the window overlooking FantasyLand. The food and service was amazing and MC got lots of attention from all the princesses.

Don't get too close Belle!
First, the lady herself - Cinderella. Then came Snow White. Then Princess Aurora (that's Sleeping Beauty to you and me). Then Ariel. Finally it was the the turn of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

As with all the princess meets it was hug and photo time.

A poor unsuspecting Belle pulled MC in tight and posed for the photograph. Little did she know what was about to happen.

MC's headband with little wire butterflies had become entangled in Belles barnet. When she realised that there was quite a lot of her hair entwined it became apparent from the look of horror in her eyes that she was in danger of losing her wig!

Can you imagine? All those little princesses on holiday dining nicely in the castle suddenly seeing their idol Princess Belle lose her hair.

So, what could we do? I had to step in to help her obviously. Meanwhile, poor Belle is trying to remain calm as well as keep MC from galloping away with her hairpiece. Also, by this time, a number of fellow diners had realised what was taking place and began gawping and tittering at the hilarious scene unfolding in front of their eyes.

Finally, after what seemed like an age I untangled the pair and Belle was free to continue her princess duties around the castle. She scarpered away from us so fast she forgot to sign MC's autograph book.

Personally, I think she ran off to change her royal knickers!

Matt managed to capture it all and so here, for your viewing pleasure, is the video evidence:

You can just make out Belle in a panic at 49 secs saying to me "Oooh don't pull my hair too much"

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes

With any luck, by the time you are reading this post (it's another scheduled one) we will have just landed back home after our holiday.  I'm sure I'll have lots of things to bore you with tell you about and many stories of how Mini Cheddar got on in Disney World but for now I'm leaving you with a few delights from December...

(On entering the National Museum of Scotland)
MC does her best impression of
Penfold from Danger Mouse
Daddy: There are lots of old things in here.
MC: But where is Grandma?

MC: You look tired Mummy. Do you need a coffee?

(in the motorway service toilets)
MC: Mummy, you can do your wee wee on my wee wee if you like?
Me: Why thank you.
MC: It's my pleasure. Father Christmas will be SO happy with your wee wee Mummy.

(in a restaurant)
MC: Where has Daddy gone?
Me: He's gone to the toilet.
MC: Is he doing a wee or a poo?
Me: (trying to quieten her down) I don't know sweetie.
MC: I will ask him
Me: No, it doesn't matter sweetie
(Matt returns to the table)
MC: *shouts* Did you do a nutty poo Daddy?

(Grandma puts lunch in front of MC)
MC: Blimey!

(looking at the TV)
"Mummy, turn this off please. It's really annoying"

MC: Mummy, what are we having for dinner tonight?
Me: Buffalo burgers
MC: Daddy! Daddy! We're having Gruffalo burgers for dinner!

MC: Mummy?
Me: Yes darling?
MC: When we go on holiday will a pirate fly the plane?
Me: I really hope not (trying hard not to fall on the floor laughing)

Guest Post...Doing It All For Aleyna - Eats Shoots And Leaves

Alex is one in a million. She's one of the most warm-hearted (and hilarious) people I know.  I have followed her fab blog 'Doing It All For Aleyna' since I started blogging and her blog posts just have me in stitches plus her posts about her amazing little girl are gorgeous. I was lucky enough to meet her at CyberMummy in June and then amazingly (on my part - still don't know how I made it there!) we were both up for awards at the MAD blog awards in September.  I shared a room with her. Sadly I was a boring old fart being pregnant but Alex looked after me like a true friend and I'll always be grateful for that.

I'm thrilled to have one of her funnies on my blog. Although now I'm completely paranoid about my punctuation. I give you her guest post - Eats Shoots And Leaves...

I was so excited and honoured to have been asked by the beautiful, talented, hilarious and amazing Heather to do a guest post for her whilst she lives it large in Florida.  And then I wasn't.

Whatever am I going to write?  Then it came to me.  I am going to openly confess something over on another blog.  Yes.  Genius.

So here it goes....

I think I might be a grammar bully.

I am not alone.  One of my best friends is also a member of the "word police" and many years ago, I gave her the fabulous book, Eats shoots and leaves for Christmas.  A book for people who love punctuation and get upset about it.

The author, Lynne Truss, through her passion for punctuation was able to inject some humour into the misuse, or even lack of use, of the comma. (Please let me have put all the commas in their correct places in that last sentence).

An amphiboly (for that is the correct terminology, don't you know?), describes the ambiguity of a sentence whereby its meaning depends entirely on punctuation

I am always interested and even a little bit delighted to see a new amphiboly.

Here are a couple of my favourite examples.

An English professor wrote these words on the chalkboard and asked his students to punctuate it correctly:

"a woman without her man is nothing"

The males in the class wrote:
"A woman, without her man, is nothing"

The females wrote:
"A woman: without her man, is nothing"

But it wasn't until I came across the following that I felt truly complete....

Stop clubbing, baby seals.

Lynn Truss has also designed a "save the comma" game through which you can test your punctuation skills.

Having ashamedly got 9 out of 10, I hereby revoke my self-proclaimed title of grammar Nazi.  Oops!

Guest Post...Alyson's Blog - Bring On The Grecian

Alyson, who blogs over at the wonderful 'Alyson's Blog', and I first met in the virtual world (Babycentre forum) when we were both expecting - her with her third child and me with my first. That was well over 3 years ago now and, despite living a good 1.5 hours drive from each other, we still try and meet up as much as humanly possible with our hectic lives.

I class Alyson as true friend. When I found out I would have to have a c-section when I was pregnant I was a mess, distraught at the thought of my plans for a natural water birth going out of the window. Alyson picked me up and supported me and I owe it to her that I had the most wonderful c-section experience ever.

Alyson's 3 children are a delight and Emma (who is only 1 day older than MC) is gorgeous but, as Alyson explains here, the cuteness comes at a price.  I now hand you over to Alyson and her guest post - Bring On The Grecian...

I should probably introduce myself, I'm Alyson, writer of Alysonsblog, RL friend of Heather here at SAHMLovingit and when she asked me to write a guest post I was thrilled to oblige. I'm a 37 year old married mother of three daughters ranging from 13 - 2 years, and there is NEVER a dull day in my house, we like life to be busy, end to end, almost like an episode of Total Wipeout.. or that's how it feels sometimes. I'm studying for a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and absolutely loving it and I blog about my life, my work at uni and my volunteering too. So enough about me, onto my guest post.

As a 37 year old bottle blond, I'm not used to seeing the flash of silver in my hair but see this face.

This face is responsible for knocking actual years off my life and introducing me to the joys of the silver foxy.

I swear after having 2 other children, I thought I knew how this parenting/mothering gig worked, thought I had it down pat.. well I thought wrong.

Remember this face?

Well this face tests me in ways I didn't even know could exist.

In 2011 we have had no less than 3.. yes 3.. life altering moments, heart stopping, stomach in mouth moments with her that I can honestly say I didn't have with my others. Meg was calm, placid, polite, eager to please, Lucy was funny, spirited and a true comedian, but Emma... man alive where to start with Emma.

In the Summer whilst on the boat, we were mooring up in the harbour, both Tim & I busy doing our parts tying up, putting out fenders etc and we both heard a BIG splash, looked at each other in horror and did that thing where you whirl around to see what or who fell in, a very quick assessment showed Lucy sat reading her mag and no Emma, NO EMMA, ... Oh God No NOT EMMA. Tim started running, I started running round the boat, all side,  desperately trying to see into the marina to know where to jump in... 'did she have her life jacket on' 'I don't know' cue Tim & I both crying, running and screaming her name.. an awful awful feeling to anyone who has ever experienced a lost or endangered child.

In that very moment the cupboard door on the boat flew open and out danced Emma shouting 'ta-da' with her arms out stretched, I didn't know where to cry, scream or fall to my knees, I think I did all three. That was when after 3 children and some pretty lax rules for the boat the new 'getting on the boat' charter was launched meaning that the children are not even allowed to step foot in the marina without their life jackets on and MUST wear them all day - 'no life jacket no boat' is the mantra. You may think it shocking that we didn't already have this in place before and looking back it is really, but the children were always so good around the boat until Emma.. we never had a single incident with the other 2 so I suppose stupid assumptions came into play.

Then we had the car incident that I blogged about here.. Emma ran into the middle of the road, a VERY busy road, which finished up with both Emma and I led in the road being 'saved' by a white van man, another moment that took proper years off my life expectancy.

And then the icing on this cake of parenting nightmares came last week in a routine trip to the local Gym/Swimming Pool, we go every week, its one of Emma's favourite things to do, she loves launching herself fearlessly into the water, sinking like a stone and then bobbing up with the aid of her float suit. As I started to get changed last week, I gave Emma the task of taking off her shoes, I bent to pull my swimming costume up, looked and she was gone, literally in a split second gone. My heart stopped, the swimming pool is only say 12 feet away, and I ran, arse hanging out of suit, to the side of the pool and desperately scanned the bottom of the pool, I screamed to Lucy to check the jacuzzi, I ran into the showers, people were understanding that something was very wrong, I was crying, screaming her name, running back and forth to the pool and in the changing room.

Staff and people are coming running, this is bad, very bad. Someone sits me down as everyone continues the search and the shaking starts, uncontrollable shaking as I'm trying to stand and keep looking, about 4 or 5 minutes passed, I could feel my throat tightening, this is going to end badly I just know it
An elderly lady wanders in from the showers amid the commotion and opens a locker and says 'is this what you are looking for?' I whirl around and there she is, Emma half naked and sat in an actual locker with the door closed, like a little elf, grinning wildly and shouting 'BOO'

Its no exaggeration to say that I sobbed, completely sobbed, heaving, shaking and snotting everywhere, Emma laughing and dancing from foot to foot, whilst people gave her a stern look or a waggly finger about 'not frightening her mummy like that'

We didn't end up going swimming, frankly my nerves wouldn't have stood it, we went home and it was her turn to sob then

I'm reaching for new and unchartered depths in my parenting with Emma, proof if it were needed, that children can be and are SO very different and one size most certainly does NOT fit all, way back in my ignorant, blissful, smug, single child state, mother of a perfect daughter I used to believe it was all about the parenting, that when a child was a naughty tornado that must have meant something was missing or wrong in their life or that they weren't getting enough attention at home... yeah and I also used to believe in the tooth fairy as well,  just shows how wrong you can be

Guest Post...Mari's World - Horrorscopes 2012

You know when you just love someone instantly? That's how I feel about Marianne who writes a brilliant blog over at 'Mari's World'. Her warmth and wit is so endearing.

I've even had the pleasure of her company in real life and I have to say she's everything her blog purveys and more. She is a mother of 4 (including two beautiful twin girls) and believe it or not - a nana to one! I know...I need to know her secret.

So, I now hand you over to Marianne and her guest post - Horrorscopes 2012

I’m writing this as 2011 draws to a cold and tired end. It’s been a trying year on many different levels for people all over the world and as December makes its final stint to the finish line I’m looking back on what has been achieved throughout the year, what hasn’t and I’m wondering which dreams to rollover into 2012 and which to just let go of forever.

You see I am a closet Horoscope lover, I buy The Sun newspaper every day (I know don’t shoot me) but it’s to read Mystic Meg and what she has in store for me and come the end of the month I make sure I buy her monthly scope and read it throughout the month, especially on down days when nothing seems to be going quite as I’d like it to.

I am subscribed to two monthly magazines and I cut out their horoscopes and paste them in my diary to carry around with me and I buy at least another two magazines each month and do the same.
I have at least four different horoscope internet sites bookmarked which I refer to almost daily too.

Are you getting the picture?

Do you do this or I am the only Horror freak in the country?

Anyway, recently I’ve caught myself wondering if all this effort I put into Mystic Meg is worth it. (I know I’m shocked at myself too.)

BUT, at the beginning of last year, oh I’m a Taurus by the way, I was told in very clear and no messing around terms that 2011 was MY YEAR after 12 long years of being in the doldrums. Apparently Jupiter would be dropping by and making me a shed load of money and channelling opportunities right to my door.

‘Have the courage of your ambitions Marianne’ they urged.

‘Jupiter, planet of growth, will bring you so much help if you think big.’

Yeah? Well I guess Jupiter plain forgot that Britain is in the middle of an on-going recession, I imagine Jupiter might have lost a bit of wind in his sails because of that, cos I ain’t seen nothin’.

2011 has been difficult, our utility bills went up 20% and even though I got the twins out of nappies our shopping bill still increased instead of decreasing.

All the little DIY jobs I wanted completed by the end of 2011 are still on hold as money put aside for them got swallowed up by simple living – have you filled your car up recently? It’s shocking isn’t it? I even started driving slower on motorways to save on fuel.

I must give Jupiter a bit of slack though as apparently he’s been retrograde since August and I know how that feels. I took the girls to preschool by car this morning as we were running late and I forgot the car – I walked home so I do know a little about retrograde trust me.

The forecasters are telling me Jupiter is still hanging around in my back yard for most of 2012 too, I must be patient – well what else can I do but be patient? And everything will all fall into my lap once the year gets underway (and Jupiter remembers which direction he’s going in).

So if you happen to bump into him, spin him clockwise will you please?  I need my planets working at full speed as I have plans and dreams that make the Titanic look like a dinghy.

Wishing you all a very happy New Year – may all your dreams come true!

Hello Moon

First I have some GREAT news. Well, it's great news for our house... Mini Cheddar is fully potty trained! I can't tell you how happy I am about this. I felt so deflated at the end of October over the whole potty pressure. So, I stepped off the gas, relaxed and just let her lead the way and it's worked. 2 whole days with no accidents and today I gave her a lot of water and we even went out twice - a total of 11 wee wees and only one that I prompted her to do. It means so much that we can go away next week and in January for our big holiday without having to take a suitcase of nappies or Pull-ups with us.

So, the real reason for this post...I had to share this with you.  This was taken a couple of weeks or so ago when MC decided to talk to the moon through the patio window. For those of you know don't know, Betty is our dog who had to be put to sleep on 3rd November.

Here are some other gems that MC has come out with in the past couple of months or so as I need to document them:

MC: Yaye! We are going to Biscuits today!
Me: Where?
MC: Biscuits! It's going to be wonderful Mummy!
Me: I think you mean 'Whizz Kids' sweetie (Whizz Kids is a play centre near us).

Grandma: Is Grandma a boy or a girl?
MC: You're a girl Grandma!
Grandad: Yes, Grandma is an 'old' girl (my Dad trying to be funny)
MC: And you're an old boy Grandad! (touché Grandad, touché!)

Me: We need to go to Asda today to do the food shopping.
MC: (adopts a stern voice) Well we'll see about that Mummy!

MC: (talking about Halloween) I think ghosts are very spicy.
Me: I think you mean 'spooky' darling.

MC: I want a yoghurt!
Me: Aren't you forgetting something?
MC: Erm...my manners?
Me: Yes, so what do you say?
MC: But Mummy, I've lost my manners. I can't find them anywhere! Where are they? (raises hands in the air and looks left and right)

MC: (running her toy Dyson vacuum cleaner over the carpet) PHEW! (wipes mock sweat from her brow)

MC: (coming into the kitchen) What are you doing in here Mummy?
Me: I'm making dinner
MC: How long is it going to be?

MC: Mummy! (shouting from the lounge...I'm in the kitchen)
Me: What?
MC: MUMMY!
Me: What?
MC: MUMMY MUMMY MUMMY!
Me: (running into the lounge in a slight panic) What darling?
MC: I'm playing with these stars (some plastic stars she has). You can go back in the kitchen if you want.

Me: Come on sweetie, I need to get you changed
MC: Calm down Mummy! (she's clearly been listening to Michael Winner!)

(MC is listening to noisy banter between Matt and his family)
MC: Everybody just calm down please!

MC: (pretending to talk to Daddy on the toy phone) Daddy, I'm at Grandma and Grandad's house. I've made a right mess!

MC: (fussing over a new baby she's spotted in a cafe) Aw, he's SO cute!
Grandma: Yes, Mummy has a baby in her tummy doesn't she?
MC: Yes, but I want that one! (pointing at the baby)

You Know You're Pregnant When...*

You can't walk around Asda for 15 minutes without gagging at certain foods.

Open my food cupboards and these fall out...
I'll be looking like a Fruit Mento soon
You are addicted to eating fruit Mentos.

You drop a fruit Mento in the footwell of your car whilst driving and almost cry.

People keep telling you how big you're getting and you don't (most of the time) feel like punching them in the face.

You think nothing of putting chilli jam on a roast beef sandwich.

You sit and eat pickled onions straight from the jar.

You put the butter dish in the bin and some rubbish in the fridge.

You're in bed before 8pm on a Friday night.

You're still in your dressing gown at 11am and don't feel guilty about it.

You see some gorgeous Autumn outfits in the shop just because you know you can't buy them.

You have to have a lie down after doing anything that involves standing up for more than 30 minutes.

You can't watch a game show without getting emotionally involved with the contestants and sobbing like a baby when they win/lose.

You find yourself standing by yourself looking down and wondering if it's the last time you'll see your feet.

Your husband surprises you with a plan to go to Florida on holiday 3 months before the new baby arrives and you aren't sure you want to go.

You scream hysterically at your husband if he gets himself a chocolate/biscuit/cake without getting you one.

Your craving for meat is that bad that you can't drive past a McDonalds without using the drive thru to just grab a Sausage McMuffin or Big Mac.

Your craving for meat is that bad that you make your husband go to the 24 hour McDonalds at midnight.

You don't really care that there are actually 565 calories and a shit load of salt in a Double Sausage McMuffin as long as you get your fix.

Your chin resembles that of a 15 year old McDonalds worker because of all the crap you're eating.

You have to run out to the shop to buy a cabinet full of spot treatment.

You visit the toilet for a pee more than 7 times in a couple of hours during the night.

You are tempted to take your pillow and duvet into the ensuite and sleep on the loo to save getting up.

You use the fact you have a pregnancy related 'illness' to get out of having sex.

* Okay, so these are all ME but I just had to share

Time For Play School (and some more funnies)

All dressed for play school
I seem to be saying this a lot lately but sorry for my lack of blog and Twitter action lately. My life is just so full on with a million and one things which doubled with Matts birthday this weekend. We went to Chester Zoo on Monday but more about that next week!

Anyway, I thought I'd give you a quick update.

This week Mini Cheddar finally started play school.

I thought I'd be an emotional wreck but I was actually alright - weirdly enough I just filled up a bit when I went to collect her.

Mini Cheddar had been looking forward to play school since July when she had a little taster of it before the school term finished. When the day finally arrived this Wednesday she could hardly contain herself and was so eager to get out of the house - the excitement even continued in the car.

"I'm going to Play School!"
She settled in fine and I felt more than happy leaving her there for 2 and a half hours.

When I came to collect her she was sat facing the door with all the other children, all wearing their coats and with their bags. She was full of excitement about what she had done and eaten. I could have cried. She came out with a collection of paintings and talked about it for the rest of the day.

She's back there next Monday and we are both very excited about it. Her, because she gets time away from Mummy and gets a chance to play and interact with other children without me. Me, because I love seeing her new found independence blossom.

Lots of play school painting

Speaking of independence, whilst blogging I need to share a few more gems Mini Cheddar has come out with recently.

(talking about The Lion King)
MC: I love Simba and Daddy Lion
Me: Daddy Lion is called Mufasa
MC: I love Simba and Move Faster

(remembering when we went to the opticians with my Mum)
MC: We went there with Grandma
Me: How do you remember that? It was about a year ago!
MC: Grandad didn't come
Me: No, he didn't
MC: He was playing golf
Me: (laughing) He probably was
MC: Grandad always plays golf!

(MC passes me something I asked for)
Me: Thank you sweetie
MC: It was my pleasure Mummy

Looking forward to catching up with you all over the next week to see what you've been up to. I've missed reading your blogs!

The World According To Mini Cheddar

Sincere apologies for the lack of blogging action these past couple of weeks.

Life is a bit hectic which has meant blogging has taken a bit of a back seat.  Also, once you let things slide it's so hard to get back in the groove.  I even missed my first ever Silent Sunday yesterday!

I know! *shocked face*

Due to the horrible cold that Mini Cheddar and I suffered the other week we spent last week getting over that - therefore, last week was a bit of a 'nothing'.  I just did freelance work and sulked a bit.  I haven't really felt like blogging and I haven't really been reading any blogs either (that will be remedied this week, I promise!)

Being ill though has meant a lot of time in the house just Mini Cheddar and I which has been lovely. So much so that lately she's been coming out with some really cute things that melt my heart.

These past few months she's really found her voice and is never quiet.

She's always talking away about everything, constantly exploring and questioning.  I have to say that I am loving this age. I think 2-3 years is a really amazing period full of so much development and discovery of independence.

She'll always be my baby though.

I just wanted to share a few gems with you all.  The first couple are dedicated to 'Mr. Blooms Nursery' which she only discovered last week.

MC: I want an aubergine
Me: An aubergine?
MC: Yes! I love him!
Me: (gets a plastic aubergine from her play kitchen)
MC: (looks disheartened) It doesn't talk

   ***

MC: (throwing her arms around my neck) I love you Mummy
Me: Aw that's nice, I love you too
MC: I also love veggies

   ***

MC: (sniffing me)
Me: (laughing) So, what do I smell of?
MC: (looks at me as if I'm mad) Mummy

   ***

MC: (sitting on potty)
Me: Do you need a poo?
MC: Yes
Me: Ok then, do a poo
Me: (pretends to strain, grunts and pulls a face then giggles her head off)

   ***

MC: (eating a fig roll so fast it doesn't touch the sides) Mmmmm
Me: Is that nice?
Me: It is. It's very delicious in my tummy

   ***

MC: (Jumping on my head in the morning) I'd like my Weetabix now my tummy's rumbling

   ***

MC: My tummy is rumbling
Me: We'd best get you some food then
MC: Yes, help my tummy feel better

   ***

MC: (walking from the lounge into the kitchen where I'm busy tidying) What are you doing here Mummy?
Me: I'm cleaning
MC: (looks concerned) Come sit down and have quiet time

   ***

MC: (breaks wind and looks proud) I did a trump!

   ***

MC: (pretends to cry)
Me: What's the matter? Are you being silly?
MC: I'm crying in my home
Me: Why?
MC: I'm very sad
Me: Why?
MC: I don't know

   ***

MC: I want to watch Mickey Mouse
Me: It's not on sweetie, you'll have to watch Special Agent Oso
MC: I not like Oso
Me: Aw, he's nice
MC: I not like him (shakes head vigorously, gets up and turns TV off)

   ***

Me: (sniffing the air) Have you done a poo?
MC: No
Me: Are you sure?
MC: Yes, it was just a trump

   ***

I'm sure there will be many more of these to come!

Humpty Dumpty Get Out Of The Wall!

I think I've only ever blogged one proper video of Mini Cheddar previously (not counting the ones at Peppa Pig World) so it's about time I did another one and I just HAD to share this gem with you.

This was last month when she wanted me to film her singing skills.

'Row Row Row Your Boat' went to plan but she got a bit carried away with 'Humpty Dumpty'

and I lost the plot laughing at her!  Excuse the snort.

Also, just to let you all know I have written a guest post today for the lovely Alex over at Doing It All For Aleyna.  It's a bit of a tongue in cheek one so I hope you enjoy reading it as much I enjoyed writing it for Alex.

If you haven't discovered her blog yet then go over and have a look as she's so fantastic, down-to-earth and hilarious.  I love her.  She also has the most beautiful daughter Aleyna.

Just don't get too distracted in her fabulous blog that you forget to read my post ok? ;-)
