Yes, it's official. I'm getting old.
*sobs lightly into my Horlicks*
I used to have my hair highlighted (see my blog banner pic for proof) but at the beginning of December last year I decided to go back to my natural brown colour. It was mainly a financial reason - being a stay at home mum means less cash to splash on non-essentials and although my husband said he would gladly pay for me to go blonde every 6 weeks, I decided to see if brunettes actually ended up having more fun after all.
Well, as Bertorelli used to say in 'Allo 'Allo...what a mistakea to makea!
The thing is, with recent events I let my hair appointment in January/February go and thought I'd hang on as long as possible. This morning, as I stood at the bathroom mirror, trying my best to conceal the panda eyes that I developed having bog all sleep at the hospital this weekend, I'm horrified to see so many spindly horrible grey hairs. Where the hell did they come from?
Yes, I'm going grey. I'm only 36. Balls!
Maybe they've been there a while? Maybe the blonde has been concealing them all this time? Maybe recent events with my husband and my daughter are to blame...perhaps the worry and stress has effected me more than I thought?
Hmm. Maybe I just need to face the fact I'm no spring chicken any more. Surely the fact I'd prefer to sit in snuggled up on the sofa in my PJ's rather than go out on a wild night should tell me that.
It's time to face facts, I'm going grey and there's nothing I can do about it. Time to order an electric fire and a shopping bag with wheels me thinks.
Thank f*** I'm going to the hairdressers tomorrow though!
Oh and at least I don't have a moustache. Yet.

Oh poor you spotting grey hairs, blonde does hide them! In that case I shall stay blonde and in denial (although I dye mine at home and know a lot of people can't do that). You will feel much better after going to the hairdressers and do brunettes have more fun? (aside your husbands leg and mini cheddar being poorly) xx
Blame the children. Blame your husband. And just the head massage alone is worth a regular trip to the salon! Feel for you!
I was devastated by my first grey hair...but I'm used to it now. Growing old gracefully. *shudders*
Oh my. That's making me think perhaps I'll carry on shelling out for the highlights as like you was considering saving the pennies! Commiserations and enjoy thehairdresser. Nice to have some 'me time' x
I am 35 and have to colour my hair on a regular basis, i blame the kids!
Will you hate me for showing you this link?

My husband is 35 and has a few stray grey hairs already. Not sure what he's planning on doing with them....he won't suit highlights ;-)
Oh no not good, however brunette I don't think I would recognise you!
I have a few greys in my fringe :-( x
One of my best friends has been going grey for years!!!! Since she was 22!!! Don't worry, the beauty of living in a modern world is that we can deny deny deny this sort of thing for many years to come.....
Thanks for your comments. I did actually go out with a lad when I was about 17...he was 20 and sooooooo grey. He was also the most boring person on the planet so I dumped him. Shame, he was quite fit even though he looked like a silver fox.
Ooooh 1 hour 20 mins to my hair appointment. Yippee!
Oh and I can't really say if brunettes or blondes have more fun....December I had a great time but so far this year has been a bit pants :(
Not got greys yet but I do have a 'tash which is nice. And a couple of weeks ago I was horrified to find a hair on my chin. When I plucked it out it had a split end! I didn't know which aspect was worse. Oh, us woman are lucky aren't we?! x
