Flashback Friday - Daughter of Deirdre Barlow

Yesterday I posted this post and mentioned how, when I was younger, went through a stage of looking like the off-spring of Deirdre Barlow.

Well, you know what...I'm all for sharing those days in the spirit of having a good laugh.  I'm not embarrassed, I can giggle along at the big perm and the MAHOOOOSIVE glasses.

So, without further ado...let me introduce you to Miss Barlow...

One of my shorter perms that show off my plastic hoop earrings perfectly

I'm sure if I wasn't careful the weight of my perm would have sent me plunging into the sea

Sisters?  No, that was my Mum. OMG we even have matching straw hats!

Just to add to the bad perm and glasses we now have the cemented brace. Lovely.

Now head over to Cafebebe and check out the other entries...

Did you used to 'scrunch' your perm with a diffuser attachment on the hairdryer? I had the same hairdo, and got headlice. I can still remember the screams of pain as my mum ran a nit comb through the tangled mess!

My flashback friday this week has a picture of a very young me with a home perm that left me with a frizzy mess.

It's completely mental, you look older then than you do now - how mad is that.
Same thing with my Mum. In that era she had very aging hair-dos and glasses and she also looked like D Barlow - especially her glasses.
I am glad to say my Mum now has trendy glasses and now looks younger than Deidre. :-)
Thanks for an entertaining post :-) You brave brave girl (see I said girl not lady) - you are a young spring chicken compared to that photo :-)

What great photos! I also had a perm in the 80s and into the 90s but I went for the corkscrew effect!! Will see if I can dig out pics and be brav enough to share like you.
Happy Easter x

Glad I amused you ladies (and Matt!), thanks for your comments. I have loads of seriously bad photos lately. It's a good job I can laugh at myself. It's SO true that in those days we seemed to look older that we are now - late 80's/early 90's fashion did not NOTHING for us!

Wow, you do look like her. I had bad perms in the 80s as well.

oh my, that's some hair! You can't beat the old perm for making us look about 40 when we were only teenagers, you look so much younger now!

Ah perms, those were the days...you know, in the eighties I always felt in such good company with my natural frizz, how I wish it was a perm!

Wow classic! Love it. You must have been so cool! Thank goodness my Mum was always too mean to allow me a perm.
