The Gallery - April

I have to admit, when I saw the The Gallery prompt this week I was in two minds if this was going to be the first week I'd skip it as nothing immediately sprang to mind for April.

However, the more I thought about the prompt the more I knew what I could do and I knew I wanted to include a top tune. So if you fancy being lifted a little on this Wednesday morning then feel free to click play...

You see, April for me has been somewhat a turning point in my recent mood in life.  April has brought with it good weather which always helps but lately I've come to realise what really matters.

Those who know me know that I adore my friends and I'm extremely loyal to them - not just my best and closest friends but all my friends so when one let me down last year it hurt.

A lot.

Someone I thought was a good friend turned out to be someone else - she wasn't the friend I thought she was and I've really struggled to understand it all.  I don't think a week or two went by since last September/October where I hadn't thought about how she hurt me.

Then April came. That was the month for me.  The month where I realised I'd dealt with it, a whole month where I didn't even spare 'her' a single thought.

I believe that looking up and seeing that glorious blue sky in the past month has something to do with making me appreciate what I've got. I now realise that the good friends, the honest and trustworthy ones, are the ones that really matter in my life and that's what I should focus on.

So Hello Mister Blue Sky...

Many people will walk in and out of your life,
but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart

- Eleanor Roosevelt

And for those without sound:

Sun is shinin' in the sky

There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin' ev'rybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day hey,hey

Runnin' down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly in the city
On the streets where once was pity
Mister blue sky is living here today hey, hey

Mister blue sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong?

Hey you with the pretty face
Welcome to the human race
A celebration, mister blue sky's up there waitin'
And today is the day we've waited for

Hey there mister blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Ev'rybody smiles at you

Mister blue sky, mister blue sky
Mister blue sky

Mister blue, you did it right
But soon comes mister night creepin' over
Now his hand is on your shoulder
Never mind I'll remember you this
I'll remember you this way

Mister blue sky please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long
Where did we go wrong?

Hey there mister blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do
Ev'rybody smiles at you
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba

Now head on over and check out all the other entries...

Brilliant post!
Although I am sorry about your "friend"
There really must be something about April and friendships. I've had a serious wake up call too sorted certain "friendships" out. xx

This is just too cool for school. Mr Blue Sky is one of the great feelgood summer records ever. And I kid you not, I was listening to the whole of the Out of the Blue album in the car the other day. Blue Sky sums up April perfectly. Hope we get lots more blue skies in the months ahead.

Love it :)
ELO quite often provide our musical start to the day - I challenge anyone to listen to this and not feel full of get up & go!

A very uplifting post, picture and poem. It's funny because as I've mentioned (many times) my mood's been dark all winter and the blue skies are starting to show for me too. I've also come to realise that a couple of friends I considered were my closest have been taking more than they've been giving and just have not been there for me when I've needed them most, in spite of me always being there for them. It takes a little while to get over doesn't it, but like any grieving process you do come out of it and emerge stronger.

I'm glad things are looking up for you, you deserve much happiness being such a lovely person xXx

Love the picture and song - I am going to go for my morning walk with an extra spring in my step.
I empathise with what you say about friendships and the having one that turned bad. It hurts like hell, but ultimately it is a reflection on them not you.

Since moving to the UK I've come to think a blue sky can change everything. Isn't it great that it helped you in such a way - great post!!

Stunning picture and makes me just love blue. Blue skies are certainly good for the sanity and the soul. I spent April trying to figure out my relationship with a long-standing "friend". Still on that journey so pleased you have reached your destination.

It's a true bummer when that happens and sadly I too have witnessed that disappointment in someone I thought was 'better then that' I'm so glad you are healed and wow, that means there's room for someone new now! Keep your eyes peeled...

Glad your spirits are up. As for the friend who let you down, it is her loss.

Great post, I've still got lingering resentment to a friendship that broke down 15 years ago, its amazing how much it can hurt xx

Wow, I've just got round to reading this! Love ELO, CD in the car. Feeling for you, I've been in the same situ with someone that was a friend for 20 years. Now we don't talk at all - it does still hurt - a lot. It's an awful story - on both parts. I'm glad you've been able to see the blue sky ;o) xxx
