Save The Animals

As some of you may have noticed, I've been spending a little less time on Twitter (and blogging to some extent) over the last month. I'm still keeping a hand in but I'm making a conscious effort to dedicate more time to Mini Cheddar. She's growing up so fast right now, at that lovely stage, and I really don't want to miss a thing. We've been having lots of trips out and lots of play time at home - it's been so lovely.

Yesterday we got the mat out on the lounge carpet and broke open the modelling clay.

Mini Cheddar turns the ice cream cone
into a Moldovian Eurovision hat!
It's non-toxic and scented...not sure i could smell anything but modelling clay to be honest but the bright colours were a hit with Mini Cheddar.

So, what did she want mummy to make? An ice cream obviously (she's obsessed) but I felt I needed to experiment more.  An ice cream was hardly putting my modelling skills to the test now was it?

Cue me attempting lots of animals...

Badly.

Freaky animal farm
I think I can safely say that Mister Maker can hold onto his day job with ease. I made a duck that was bigger than an elephant (with pink eyes) and my freaky green-eyed rabbit looked like something from Donnie Darko! I had fun though.

I found myself getting anxious whenever Mini Cheddar grabbed the clay wildlife and decided to rip a beak or a tail off. My poor animals! Even if they were rubbish they were my creations. I felt like a kid again.

Never smile at a crocodile!
Then in a stroke of modelling clay genius I created this on the right. I saw Mini Cheddars face light up and run towards it, I practically rugby tackled her to the ground in order to save my precious crocodile.

There was me thinking it was Duplo creations I didn't like her destroying. Turns out it's pretty much anything - even freaky animals.

It's like some freaky police line-up
Who would have thought I'd be like that?  For someone who isn't competitive I really surprise myself sometimes.

I was gutted when I had to squash them up and put the clay away. Seems even though I look old on the outside I'm still a big kid at heart.  We are off to Peppa Pig World on Thursday and I'm more excited than anyone.

Here's to more play time!
