The Gallery - Travel

I almost whooped when I saw the theme to The Gallery this week.  I adore travel so I'm VERY excited to look through the entries this week.

I've been lucky enough to have been to some fabulous places in the world and have already blogged about seeing the Northern Lights in the Arctic Circle (The Gallery - Green) and travelling the path of Route 66 across America.

Ah the good old US of A.

I have a great love affair with that place, have travelled over there a few times now and it even featured a couple of times in my Top 5 Places I've Visited (one of my very first blog posts).  I find the country so vast and so different from state to state - I think I've visited about 17 of the 50 states so far - and I have quite a few relatives over there too which is always a bonus!  We've travelled to the major tourist spots such as New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles and also been off the beaten track in places like Amarillo in Texas and Yukon in Oklahoma.

Then there's it's sister Canada.  Again, I love that country (I do SO wish I'd added it onto my list).  The scenery is stunning and the people are lovely.  My husband and I spent our 1st wedding anniversary at Chateau Lake Louise which was just amazing.

So, it's only right I dedicate this post to my favourite photos from my trips to both those beautiful countries.  I've not been out there since BMC (before Mini Cheddar) but I'm hoping to get back there someday soon to notch up some more states and provinces.

I think these photos sum up the diversity of the countries perfectly.

An icy Lake Louise, Banff, Alberta
Peyto Lake Lookout, Banff National Park, Alberta
Reflections of Patricia Lake, Jasper, Alberta
Night time in Vancouver, British Columbia
Dusk over Shuswap Lake, Salmon Arm, British Columbia
The Space Needle, Seattle, Washington

Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington
Sunset in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii
Hotel view over Waikiki Beach, Oahu, Hawaii
Capitol Hill down Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC

The Grand Canyon, Arizona (see the people on the cliff edge on the left)
Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois
'The Bean' (Cloud Gate), Chicago, Illinois
Just off Broadway, NYC, New York
If I haven't bored you already and you want a nosey at my other photos then most of them are in my Flickr stream.

Now head on over and check out all the other entries...

You've not bored me at all - these are stunning.

We've been thinking about a Western Canada trip and Lake Louise was on our list - was it as beautiful as it looks? And I think I should visit my namesake, Lake Patricia!

God those photos are gorgeous. I have been lucky enough to visit the States a few times but they're never enough are they. we did the 'copter' ride over the canyon and it was amazing. Canada still firmly on the list...one day!

What fantastic photos Heather, travel is also one of my passions as well.  I love America, but have only visited New York, Philidelphia, Washington and Miami.  Still its a good number of places- my dream is to take Mads to Disney World in Orlando- tacky yes but I never went as a child and I would love her to experience it when she is old enough. x

Fantastic gallery. Brought back many happy memories. I toured around the States on AmTrak a lifetime ago, and drove coast-to-coast from Vancouver to Montreal. Glorious experience. Thanks for sharing yours.

Thank you. It is beautiful.  We saw it when it was thawing out and it was stunning - the blue is amazing.  Have a look at these ones:

Moraine Lake is also beautiful but that was completely frozen over when we went.
YES!  You have to go to Patricia Lake.  We stayed at Patricia Lake Bungalows and had a cabin right on the shore, it was gorgeous.  There was a neighbourhood grizzly bear patrolling the area when we arrived (warning leaflets through our door) but we never saw him.  My husband took a big stick out with him when we went walking! As if he stood a chance :D

Noooo you should have joined in.  I can't wait to set aside some time later to go through the entries this week :) Thanks Jenny x

Thanks :) Not been to the state of Indiana - will have to add it to my list of must dos!

Thanks Mari.  I can't wait to go through the entries this week, making sure I set aside some time later.  The states are just so different, each and every one.  You're right, they are never enough.  Next on my list is Wyoming and Montana I think.

Thanks Katie. 4 states is great going. Glad you share my passion for America. Oooh I've not been to Pennsylvania state despite my cousin living in Philadelphia for a while.  Although I have travelled through Pennsylvania (and saw Phili briefly out the window!), Maryland and New Jersey but I haven't counted them as I didn't stop overnight in any of them.  Maybe I should to boost my states to 20? ;)
We plan to take MC to Disney World when she's a little older too - she's a huge Mickey and Minnie fan so it has to be done x

Absolutely stunning photographs! Many of them brought back very personal, wonderful memories for me - as my husband and I spent our honeymoon in British Columbia!

Thanks.  That sounds amazing Keith - have you ever blogged about that experience?  I'd love to read it.  Coast to coast Canada sounds amazing and comparable to my Route 66 drive I should imagine.

This weeks gallery is going to be great and I can't wait to grab some time later and go through everyones entries.

Gorgeous photos, I can see why you love it over there so much. I love the USA too, and have tried to convince OH to move...not happening so far. I've been to the Grand Canyon and that photo captures it perfectly, it's truly amazing!

Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words

I'm not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I'd post

Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Many thanks
